Asma Khalid, who wanted to know if the Biden administration is "at all concerned about the health of democracy in India."

John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council in the White House dismissed concerns about the health of democracy in India.Kirby said after touching the strong defense, security, and economic ties between the two countries innumerable reasons why India certainly matters not just bilaterally between the two of our nations, but multilaterally on very many levels. And the President is looking forward very much to having Prime Minister Modi here to talk about all those issues and to advance and deepen that partnership and that friendship.

Speaking at the Indian Overseas Congress USA event, he accused PM Narendra Modi of dividing the country and failing to address issues including unemployment and education. Rahul Gandhi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to drive the car...the Indian car and he looks in the rear-view mirror. Then he does not understand why this car is crashing, not moving forward. And it's the same idea with the BJP, with the RSS. All of them. You listen to the ministers, you listen to the prime minister. You will never find them talking about the future. They only talk about the past.

Our resurgent yet exclusive democracy is a democracy of the few, by the fewer and for the fewest. It has been grabbed by a tiny prosperous India and leaving a penurious Bharat out.
